Clean the lens with alcohol: As a last resort, I decided to clean the lens with alcohol. I first tried this with a new PS2 I bought from eBay. (I did not try it with my original PS2 because it is already broken). I first tried it with the CD version, and it worked with no problems. When I tried to load the DVD version, I could hear the disc spinning and the load screen showed up, but Swap Magic 3.3 never showed up. I then tried this with my original PS2 and it worked fine. When I tried to load the CD version of Swap Magic 3.3, it worked fine.
Clean the disc slot: After I cleaned the slot with alcohol I put the console back together and tried to load Swap Magic 3.3. The disc tray didn't open. I then also tested with a DVD and that didn't work either.
I have tried some of the solutions to this problem but nothing seems to work for me. On the Swap Magic CD version (no DVD version at all), I have tried doing a clean, a complete, and a reload. I have also tried some of the pieces of advice found in the internet. I'll list them below:
Solution: I took the PS2 out of the console (to avoid possible shock) and took the power supply out. I then cleaned the disc slot by rubbing alcohol for about 5 minutes. I then cleaned it with a cotton bud and an alcohol swab. I then put the ps2 back together, restarted it, and tried swap magic. It worked like a charm.
Hello all. I am having the same problem with Swap Magic 3.3. When I try to load it, it just goes to the browser. CD version works fine, and DVD version does not. My only theory is that the lens on the optical drive might be in bad shape. If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate it.
